Garden Bypass Pruner with High-Carbon Steel Blades
Garden Bypass Pruner with High-Carbon Steel Blades
The most common task in a garden often is... cutting branches & stems!
Plant tissue? No issue!
Our bypass pruners are essential to cut live plants, because they maintain the health of the plant by severing the tissue with a clean cut, rather than fraying, smashing, or otherwise damaging it, as other pruners do.
Therefore, this is often the only type of pruner a garden needs!
- Cut live and dead plant branches & stems up to 3/4" or 19.05 mm in diameter.
- Use to prune flower bushes, fruit trees, vegetables, and bonsai; for horticultural grafting; and for other cutting of live and dead plants.
- Comfortable & safe handle is also non-slip, ergonomic, strong and lightweight.
- Dimensions and other features vary by colour. See pictures for details. For example: all but the gold one have a bump to wrap the index finger around, for extra pressure & support.
- Blades are made of SK5 steel: a high-carbon, traditional Japanese non-stainless steel historically used to make knives and other craft tools. Its carbon content of about 0.9-1.0% carbon gives it HRC 60 hardness, which is often that of high-quality chef knives.
-
When cared for properly, our blades are tougher and more durable than those made from stainless steel, and can retain their edge for longer than those with lower hardness.
- Widely used by horticulturalists, orchard keepers, landscapers, and gardeners in general.
- Use for landscaping, horticulture, orchard, and other garden cutting tasks.

Materials
Blades are made of SK-5 steel: a high-carbon traditional Japanese non-stainless steel historically used to make knives and other craft tools.
Its carbon content of about 0.9-1.0% carbon gives it HRC 60 hardness, which is often that of high-quality chef knives.
When cared for properly, this steel is tougher and more durable than stainless steel and the pruner blades can retain their edge for longer than those with lower hardness.
Care
To maintain the quality and performance of the blades, clean them regularly & keep them dry in between uses.
If proper care is not taken, and the blades get rusty:
1. Soak blades in a bath of white distilled vinegar.
2. Use a scrub pad to remove all remaining rust.
3. Wipe it dry.
4. Apply an appropriate oil, such as 3-in-1 WD40.
